Mac H.T. CHAN, Chairman & Honorary Legal Advisor
Mac is a practising solicitor of HKSAR, an accredited general and family mediator and a parenting coordinator. He has been inspired by the visions of the founders of EDiversity in promoting diversity in education and learning culture in Hong Kong and therefore joined the team of EDiversity since its establishment. Mac serves on Youth Development Commission, Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education, Disciplinary Committee Panel of Social Workers Registration Board, Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Relations of ICAC, Harbourfront Commission, Quality Education Fund Assessment and Monitoring Sub-committee, amongst others.
Patricia Chan, Clinical Psychologist
Pat is a clinical psychologist with a private practice, having two decades of clinical experience under her belt. She has previously served as a clinical psychologist at the Hospital Authority, Wah Yan College (Hong Kong and Kowloon), and as an honorary lecturer for the Master of Counselling programme at the University of Hong Kong. Since 2020, she has been a Visiting Expert of the Wofoo Joseph Lee Consulting and Counselling Psychology Research Centre at Ling Nan University. She particularly cares for individuals who suffer from emotional trauma at a young age and those with High-Functioning Autism, dedicating her effort on finding effective treatments for the said parties.
Fiona Ching
Fiona is the Project Director of a local non-profit organisation, Peace Generation, established with the vision to foster sustainable peace in Hong Kong. Prior to this position, she helped kickstart MakerBay, a social enterprise to promote innovation and maker education in Hong Kong. Before returning to Hong Kong in 2015, Fiona spent 10 years working in the UK, Indonesia and China in the sustainability and humanitarian sectors. Fiona likes to spend her spare time in the nature. Hiking and sailing are her favourite pastimes. The passion of the founders and project team of EDiversity in education and parenting is inspiring and contagious. While Fiona does not have any kids of her own, she spends a lot of time with her niece and nephew who are 7- and 4-year old respectively, and for her there is nothing more rewarding than seeing an inquisitive kid grow and shine in joy.
Robert Highfield (Arni), Retired Police Superintendent
Arni became interested in education through the experience of educating their two children at home. Arni was born in the UK, and educated through the state system before joining the Merchant Navy as a Deck Officer. He later joined the UK police for two years before joining the Royal Hong Kong Police in 1974. Through 31 years of service he served in many different posts, but largely on front-line policing duties, including 4 years as Police Training School instructor and Marine Police School Headmaster. The Force assisted him to obtain Post-graduate qualifications in Management Science at City University. He retired in 2005 as a Superintendent. Upon retirement he and Cam went cruising in the Pacific on Yacht Jade with their two children Molly and Nancy. Arni enjoys writing, and has published one novel, and is well into completing others. Besides writing and sailing, he has had a lifelong interest in sports, representing the Police Force in Seven, and in science.
Prof. Daisy Dexing ZHANG BMed, MMed (Central South University, China); PhD (CUHK) Research Assistant Professor
Prof. Zhang obtained her Bachelor of Medicine (Preventive Medicine) and Master of Medicine (Social Medicine and Health Service Management) from School of Public Health, Xiangya Medical College, Central South University, China. She obtained her PhD in Public Health in 2013 at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the school afterward. During her PhD study, she received an award to go to the University of Bristol, UK for a three-month research visit. In the last few years, Prof. Zhang received 2 grants as Principal Investigator and 10+ grants as Co-investigator from GRF, HMRF, RFCID, HCPS, NSFC, CUHK Direct Grant and Knowledge Transfer Project Fund, and Department of Health. The projects cover a wide range of populations from children to older adults with different methodologies including cross-sectional and cohort study, RCT, systematic review and qualitative study, within the field of primary health care and mental health. Prof. Zhang also involves in several charity-funded projects on mindfulness-based interventions, a multidisciplinary programme for primary care patients with multimorbidity, exercise for patients with diabetes or hypertension, and e-Health project for community older adults. She is a review editor of two international journals and a peer reviewer of several international journals such as BMJ and Journal of Affective Disorders.
Cam Cheung|Co-Founder and CEO
Cam graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a degree in Journalism. Having been a radio and TV news reporter for 9 years, Cam chose to become a freelance writer when she was pregnant with her first child. In 2005, she followed her English husband's dream and sailed across the Pacific with him and their two daughters for 4 years 8 months on their catamaran Jade, and practised homeschooling throughout the voyage. They settled down in Hong Kong in 2010 when their girls joined local schools. After two years, they decided to return to homeschooling again as they found a difference in education expectation. Cam has written three Chinese books, two on their voyage and one on their home education experience.
Terence Cheung
Terence worked with children and teenage students, with intellectual disabilities and multiple handicapping conditions in a few special schools, including parents, caregivers, volunteers and different supporting professionals, after he received his training in specialized educational development at Illinois State University. He also obtained continuous post graduate training and a Master in Education at HKU. He derives his experiences mainly through the role of school teacher, principal, communal projects with different local organizations, collaborator with commercial organizations, local schools, colleges, local and foreign universities projects. He retires from the role of school principal early and moves forward to engage himself more in the communal projects involving general and special needs individuals, with the integrative approach to vocational development, neuro-psychotherapy, individual as well as communal growth and healing, that eclectically comprises a range of techniques and methods.
Rene CHU (Cheif Operations Officer)
Rene has worked in various industries, including children education, publishing, and eCommerce before joining EDiversity. Rene has also been passionate about education, with which she hopes to bring an impact to future generations. She shared that her personal mission, "transform education," is in sync with EDiversity's. Rene is also a seasoned counsellor and a group facilitator. She hopes to bring in a new training program focusing on EMPATHY.
Candace Mok
Candace first encountered Learning by Doing (LBD) in 2016 when she supervised pre-service teachers in the Postgraduate Diploma in Education Program at the University of Hong Kong in their experiential learning project. Over the next three years, she was always curious, excited, and aspired to the teaching practices she observed during each visit to LBD. In 2019, Candace officially joined EDiversity, driven by a desire to "play a part" and have a more expansive vision and realization of education. She became School Walker in LBD 2.0, walking alongside teachers on the path of innovative education. She is now the project manager for LBD 3.0. Candace holds a Master's degree in Language Studies and a Bachelor degree (Hons.) in English Language and Literature, as well as a Bachelor's degree (Hons.) in English Language Education. She previously worked in education at the British Council Hong Kong and local primary schools. She later joined the Faculty of Education at the University of Hong Kong, teaching courses related to language, teacher multicultural competence, and experiential learning. She received the University Outstanding Teaching Award (Team) in 2018 and the Faculty Outstanding Teaching Award (Team) in 2016 and 2018. In her spare time, Candace enjoys exploring uncommon and less popular hobbies, maintaining her curiosity about the world and wild soul.
Doreen Ho|Advisor
LBD 3.0 Project Doreen has been a main driver of our Learning by Doing programme in junior primary schools since 2016. She was the its Project Manager in LBD 2.0 (2019-22), and became an advisor in LBD 3.0 (2022-25). Previously, Doreen has worked in the education field for nearly 15 years. A mother of three sons, she chose to leave that career and became a stay-at-home mother to ensure her children would grow up to be kind people. She was a driving force of the now disbanded TSA Concern Group, raising awareness of the side-effects of the territory-wide test in junior primary schools students in Hong Kong. Her passion is in the promotion of parent-child reading in preschool, for which she writes columns in newspapers, magazines, and frequently giving talks and workshops. Doreen holds a Master's degree in English and Applied Linguistics from the University of York, UK, and a Diploma in Teacher Education from the University of Hong Kong.
Chan Kai Pong, Aki (BSSc, RSW, HK, PTG, USA)
Playback Theatre Graduate from Centre for Playback Theatre (USA), Registered Social Worker in Hong Kong, Founder and Director of Free Association Limited, CASH member, Founder of Band Union. Former Centre in charge of Applied Drama Centre and Community Creativity Learning Centre, BGCA, to promote integration between human services and arts. Recently, work with different schools, NGOs and Corporations, create community music with different groups of people, e.g. single parent, domestic violence survivor, children and family, elderly people and ethnic minority group. Producer of an album《In between ocean and river》, to promote conservation of Fishermen’s Ballads. Aki has been actively participated in the field as director, scriptwriter, actor, MC, narrator, puppeteer, composer, musician, arranger and producer, etc.
Joanne Chung | Fundraise and Marketing
Joanne has two children and is now a full-time mother. Graduated from Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a Professional Diploma in marketing and a master's degree in quality management, she later obtained a certificate of children's education from the University of California, Los Angeles extended course. Her work was to help companies to improve processes and training of employees to enhance efficiency. When her first child was born, she became a full-time mum. In her pastime, she loves reading parenting books, volunteering in her children's school, painting and playing badminton.

Australian psychologist, Author of Parenting for a Peaceful World, Heart to Heart Parenting, and Inner Child Journeys. He has over 30 years of psychotherapy experience, and has been the consultant for our Parenting for the Peaceful World programme since 2018.
Kent Tse | Finance and Account
Kent has around 30 years of solid experience in the accounting and finance profession and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Daiwa Capital Markets, Hong Kong. Kent obtained his Master of Business Administration, and Master of Science in Electronic Commerce Management degrees at The Hong Kong University of Sciences and Technology.

Joseph Wan | Strategy
Joseph is a Director with Anchor Strategic Partners, a multi-family office based in HK. Started as an electrical engineer in Silicon Valley, Joseph then accumulates many years of experience in private equity and management consulting, having been senior advisor to Civen (HK), and Partner and Managing Director of The Boston Consulting Group in Hong Kong. Joseph is also passionate in volunteering in community and parenting work. He is a director of Mother’s Choice and Asia Charity Services, and is an active parent-teacher association member in his children’s school.
Ben Wong | Marketing
Ben has extensive insights and experience in consumer marketing and businesses in Asia and the US market. He has led many marketing innovations and large-scale campaigns for renowned multinational brands. Born and bred in Hong Kong, Ben has a Master of Science degree in E-Commerce from The University of Hong Kong. He also earned MBA degrees from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He completed his undergraduate at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Marketing) and got a professional qualification from The Chartered Institute of Marketing in UK. Ben has 2 children and loves sports. He finds his belief in raising children echoes that of EDiversity's, so he hopes to use his marketing experience to promote happy parenting.
Dennis Wu | Information Technology
Dennis has been in the Information Technology field for over 10 years. He graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a double major in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics & Statistics. After he came back to Hong Kong, he obtained a Master of Science degree from the University of Hong Kong in Electronic Commerce and Internet Computing. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Inspired by the philosophy of the Montessori education system developed by Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori, Dennis sends his 4 year old boy to a Montessori school in Hong Kong. His wife also quit her job and trained to be a American Montessori Society (AMS) certified Montessori teacher so that she could understand more about the Montessori philosophy and apply it to their son.
Professor Kai Ming CHENG Emeritus Professor Academic Unit of Social Contexts and Policies of Education
Professor Cheng was the Dean of Education, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Senior Advisor to the Vice-Chancellor of the University. Trained as a mathematician, he was a school teacher in Physics and Mathematics, and became a principal before he pursued doctoral study at the London Institute of Education. He taught at the Harvard Graduate School of Education as a Visiting Professor from 1996 to 2006. He has been a consultant with the World Bank, UNESCO, UNICEF, UNDP and the Asian Development Bank. His research areas mainly focus on education policy and planning. He has undertaken various projects related to policy-making, legislation and institutional evaluation in various jurisdictions across continents. Recently, he has been involved in discussions about education refroms in the U.S. In addition, he is a member of the National Advisory Committee on Curriculum Reform in China. Locally, he is member of the Education Commission and was instrumental in the comprehensive refrom which started in 1999 and is still on-going.

Prior to joining The Education University of Hong Kong, Professor Stephen Chiu was Professor in the Department of Sociology and Co-Director of the Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies in The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Professor Chiu obtained his Bachelor and MPhil degrees at The University of Hong Kong, and his Master and Doctorate degrees from Princeton University. Professor Chiu is a prolific researcher. He has produced voluminous publications on topics including the sociological studies of Hong Kong and East Asian development, social inequality, youth, social movement, film industry and sociology of traditional Chinese medicine. He has attracted a number of commissioned projects funded by, among others, Central Policy Unit and Education Bureau. He developed a number of new courses and was one of the pioneers who adopted e-learning in the early 1990s.
Ms. Ada Wong Convenor, Make a Difference (MaD); Supervisor, HKICC School of Creativity
Ada Wong Ying-kay, JP has led a varied and cross-disciplinary career. She is a solicitor, cultural advocate, educator, cultural entrepreneur and social innovator. In order to promote educational innovation and build up a creative civil society, Ada founded the Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Cultural in 1998 and the HKICC LEE SHAU KEE SCHOOL OF CREATIVITY in 2006, which is the first high school in Hong Kong to promote creative education and nurture new generation talents for the local cultural and creative industries. She founded Make A Difference in 2010 to encourage Asian youth to promote positive social change. In 2012, she founded the Good Lab, an action-based think tank, shared space and a platform for social innovation, to promote social innovation and cross-disciplinary collaboration. In early 2016, Ada was invited by the Mayor of Seoul, Mr Park Won-soon, to join as a member of his “Advisory Group for Seoul Innovation” together with social innovation leaders around the world. Between 1995 and 2008, she was elected Urban Councillor, District Councillor and Chairperson of Wan Chai District Council. Ms Wong received her BA (Hons) from Pomona College, California, USA and Master of Education from the University of Hong Kong. She is an Honorary Fellow of Lingnan University and Hong Kong Institute of Education respectively.
Dr. Chih-Shun Huang, Principal of Taipei Heping Elementary School
Dr. Chih-Shun Huang founded Taipei Heping Elementary School in 2017, which was the first newly established public experimental school in Taiwan. He has been serving as the school's principal since its inception. In addition to his role as principal, Dr. Huang also serves as an associate professor at National Taipei University of Education. He is involved in various education advisory councils and teacher selection committees in different cities of Taiwan. He has long been dedicated to educational reform, school governance, and the theoretical and practical development of teacher professionalism. Dr Huang is recognized internationally as a thought leader in education. He has made significant contributions to the field as a speaker at educational conferences across Asia, Europe, and the United States, where he shared Taiwan's experiences and research achievements in educational innovation. Driven by a commitment to transformative education, Dr Huang continues to inspire and shape the future of education, empowering students to become well-rounded individuals and active contributors to society.

Karen had teaching experiences in a primary and a secondary school. She thinks peace of mind is most important for all people. She hopes EDiversity’s work can help more parents and children relax and enjoy life.
Michell Huang|Co-Founder
Michell is a registered teacher. Inspired by democratic education such as Summerhill School and Sudbury Valley School, Michell pursued a degree in Psychology and her emphasis area is Early Childhood Education. She realized that in order to become an outstanding educator, her inner growth is more important than qualifications. She has taught in international schools in Hong Kong. In 2018, she founded Sudbury Education Hong Kong, practicing Self-Directed Learning and supporting children to live out their passion and potentials.
