Original creation: My September Child
The lyrics of this song was created by Michell, one of EDiversity's founders, who, when putting down her thoughts about the ridiculous education phenomenon in Hong Kong, suddenly realised she had made a rap song! Another founder Karen then asked her friend Samuel to help. Samuel's Production & Co. then sought Dorcas Poon to write and arrange the song, and Samuel added a chorus to it, and invited Jay to give it the voice. It was debuted in this first conference, and attracted a huge applause, and over 15,000 likes the day when it was posted on Facebook. Although Michell's son was not born in September, she as a passionate Sudbury Valley approach practitioner, condensed the realities of many parents' struggles into this fantastically written rap.

Origin of the Conference
Everyone wants to do the best for their children. Nowadays, our children learn to speak other languages before they learn to walk. They learn to deal with interviews when they still have their nappies on. They learn to drill for academic exams for 12-15 years only to find that the world does not operate that way. What IS the best for our children?
This conference is sponsored by a group of dedicated parents in Hong Kong who are concerned that the territory's children are learning inappropriately for their future. They believe that children's needs and family life have been negatively challenged by rigid and often overly stressful exam-oriented learning requirements. Many in Hong Kong feel besieged by an outdated regimen that is misinformed about modern educational policies and procedures. Although many families seek modern, remedial change, they lack professional knowledge and support, which this conference will begin to provide.
